Harvesting Stillness: Gathering What Feeds You

There is a time for planting, a time for growing, and a time for gathering in the harvest. In the same way, our lives have seasons when we need to pause and gather what gives us strength.

Stillness can feel difficult in a busy world. There is always another message to answer, another task to finish, or another thing asking for our attention. Yet when we make space to be still, we begin to notice what is really feeding us.

Stillness does not always mean sitting quietly for a long time. It might be a slow walk, a cup of tea without a screen, a few minutes of prayer, or simply taking a breath before moving on to the next thing. These small moments can help us come back to ourselves.

As we gather the harvest of this season, perhaps we can also ask: What is feeding me? What brings me peace? What gives me hope? What do I want to carry with me into the next season?

We do not have to gather everything. A good harvest is about choosing what is worth keeping. Some things can be left behind: worries we cannot change, expectations that no longer fit, or habits that leave us feeling empty.

Instead, we can gather the things that nourish us — time with people we love, moments of quiet, kindness, gratitude, creativity, nature, faith, rest and simple joys.

Perhaps this is an invitation to slow down and notice. To gather the good things that are already growing in our lives. To receive them with gratitude rather than rushing past them.

Take a little time this week to be still. Notice what gives you life, and make room for more of it.

May we learn to recognise the quiet gifts around us and gather what truly feeds us for the journey ahead.
